Ingredients

3 Eggplants sliced
4 Potatoes sliced
Vegetable Oil for frying
For the béchamel sauce
1500 ml Milk
250 gr All purpose flour
200 gr Butter you can use margarine instead
1 cup Kefalotiri cheese
1 Egg yolk
to taste Salt,Pepper
1/4 tsp grounded Nutmeg optional
For the bolognese
500 gr Ground Beef
1 chopped Onion
1 clove chopped Garlic
1/2 cup Olive Oil
1 stick Cinnamon
2 Tbsp Tomato Paste
2 cups Water
to taste Salt,Pepper

This is one of the most popular dishes in Greece!

You have to try this dish!Minced beef, creamy béchamel,fried eggplants and potatoes!!!

First you have to make the minced beef. I cook it exactly as I do for my spaghetti bolognese .

Fry the potatoes and then the eggplants.Place them on kitchen paper to absorb as much oil as possible.

In a baking dish place the potatoes and on top of them the eggplants.Then the cooked minced beef.If you want you can add an extra layer of eggplants on top of the minced beef.

Preheat your oven at 180 C .Make the béchamel sauce(I have a recipe for homemade béchamel sauce) and spread it on top of the cooked minced beef.

Put in into the oven until the béchamel takes a nice golden colour.
