Ingredients

For the syrup
4 cups Water
2 cups Orange Juice
4 cups Granulated Sugar
from 1 orange Orange peel
For the cake
1 package Filo dough
250 gr Greek yogurt full fat or low fat
1 cup Granulated Sugar
1 tsp Vanilla extract or 2 sticks vanilla powder
4 Eggs
2 cups Vegetable Oil
20gr Baking Powder
from 1 orange Orange Zest
7 thin slices Orange optional

This is a Greek orange pie! It is not like other pies and the difference is in the texture that fyllo or pastry lining gives! It is orangy, soft and moist and you have to try this one!

Preheat your oven at 180 degrees Celsius.
First you have make the syrup.In a small sauce pan add the water, orange juice, orange peel, sugar and cinnamon. Cook it until it has a thicker consistency.

In a baking pan cut with your fingers each filo in small pieces.Since the filo is thawed, it will be soft.If you want, let it dry completely and then "brake" it into small pieces.

In a bowl, add the eggs and beat them with a whisk.Add the sugar and whisk again. Then add the yogurt and mix it very well.While whisking add the vegetable oil,the zest, the baking powder and the vanilla.Mix them all together.

Pour the mixture on top of the shredded filo and give it a stir so that the mixture is fully incorporated with the filo.
Add the orange slices and put it into the oven for 30-35 minutes.

Once it is out of the oven with a fork or a knife make holes in the cake so that it can absorbs as much as possible.With a laddle pour the cold syrup on top of the hot cake.
Let it cool and enjoy!
